Rockford, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University men's bowling team placed 14^th out of 39 teams at the 25^th Annual Leatherneck Classic held at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford, Ill. over the weekend. The Cougars were in 10^th place after the individual portion of the tournament on Saturday with a total of 4,905 pins. After 16 Baker Games on Sunday, SXU collected 7,852 pins, missing the cut for the eight-team tournament championship. No. 7 seed Newman University (Kan.) won the tournament by defeating No. 5 Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in five games (234-175, 210-221, 204-170, 180-187, 198-187).

• Senior Bobby Habetler (Park Ridge, Ill./Indiana Tech/St. Patrick) recorded the highest pin-total of the varsity squad, knocking down 1,054 pins in five games for an average of 210.8 to finish 28^th overall. He struck a high of 244 pins in game three, along with 232 in game one, 200 in game two and 216 pins in game four.
• From the JV team, freshman Dylan Alvarado (Lynwood, Ill./Thornwood) posted the highest score of any Cougar bowler, toppling 1,077 pins for an average of 215.4 in five games for an 18^th place finish. He hit a high of 255 in game five, as well as 216 in game one, 202 in game two and 246 pins in game four.
• Junior Andrew Rossini (Streamwood, Ill./South Elgin) placed 38^th with 1,031 pins in five games, averaging a score of 206.2. He hit a high of 221 pins in game five with 219 pins in game two and 201 in game three.
• Junior Tyler Pedersen (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) totaled 908 pins in five games, averaging 181.6 pins per game. He hit a high of 203 pins in game four.
• Senior Spencer Mosher (Ormond Beach, Fla./Concordia/Seabreeze) competed in three games, knocking down 632 pins for an average of 210.7. He struck a high of 257 pins in game three, followed by 201 pins in game four.
• Sophomore Joseph Blonski (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) bowled in three games as well, collecting 583 pins and averaging a score of 194.3. He hit a high of 205 pins in game five, preceded by 200 pins in game four.
• Senior Daniel Esguerra (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) saw action in two games hitting 205 pins in game one and 145 pins in game two.
• Junior Jason Laba (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) also competed in two games, striking 183 pins in game one, followed by 164 pins in game two.

Saint Xavier travels to Topeka, Kan. to take part in the NAIA-BCA Invitational I on Friday, November 14. They also will bowl in the NAIA-BCA Invitational II on Saturday and Sunday, also in Topeka, Kan.
