CHICAGO – Five members from the Saint Xavier University softball team (37-8/16-0 CCAC) were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team when the awards were announced Tuesday, May 27. Junior outfielder
Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill./Northern Illinois/Mother McAuley), junior outfielder
Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport), junior infielder
Kaitlyn Wright (Chicago, Ill./Marist), sophomore pitcher
Lily Strand (Evergreen Park, Ill./Saint Louis/Evergreen Park) and sophomore outfielder
Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point). Matlock and Wright earned the distinction for the second year in a row. To qualify, a student-athlete must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher, have started or played at least 66.7 percent of their team's games and be a sophomore or higher.
From the academicallamerica.com website: the Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. CSC divides the honorees into four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. By earning All-District, the winners advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Those honorees for First-, Second- & Third-Team Academic All-America will be announced on June 5.
- Crane holds a 3.80 GPA as an Elementary Education major after transferring to Saint Xavier from Northern Illinois University.
- Matlock is a Biology (Pre-Health) major with a GPA of 3.90. She also was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the second time this season, as well as earning Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Academic honors for the second time in 2024-25.
- Strand maintains a GPA of 3.80 while majoring in Political Science after transferring to SXU from Saint Louis University (Mo.).
- Wright carries a 4.00 GPA as an Actuarial Science major. She is also a two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete selection, along with being a two-time CCAC All-Academic honoree.
- Wroble is a Communications major with 3.93 GPA. She earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CCAC All-Academic recognition in the first year of eligibility.
