CHICAGO – Junior outfielder
Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill./Northern Illinois/Mother McAuley) and sophomore outfielder
Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) from the Saint Xavier University softball team (37-8/16-0 CCAC) were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic First Team All-Americans when the awards were announced Tuesday morning. To qualify, a student-athlete must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher, have started or played at least 66.7 percent of their team's games and be a sophomore or higher. The duo are the first players since 2013 to earn Academic First Team All-American in the same season when former standout Kate Mollohan (2010-13) and SXU Hall of Famer Megan Nonnemacher (2011-14) did so when the award was called the Capital One Academic All-America College Division selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Crane and Wroble are just the fourth and fifth players, respectively, in team history to earn the distinction, joining Mollohan, who also was a First Team honoree in 2012, Nonnemacher, a three-time winner (Third Team in 2012, First Team in 2013 & 2014) and the Academic All-American Softball Player of the Year in 2014, and Saint Xavier Hall of Famer Nicole Nonnemacher (2013-16), who was a First Team selection in 2016.
- Crane holds a 3.80 GPA as an Elementary Education major after transferring to Saint Xavier from Northern Illinois University. On the field, she was named an NAIA Second Team All-American and a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-American. Crane also was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Year in her first season with Saint Xavier as she shattered the single-season stolen base record for the Cougars, collecting 71 steals on 73 attempts, breaking the SXU single-season record for runs scored with 67 and setting the school record for on-base percentage at .549 in 2025.
- Wroble is a Communications major with 3.93 GPA. She earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CCAC All-Academic recognition in the first year of eligibility. Wroble was named NAIA Third Team All-American, as well as NFCA-NAIA Second Team. She earned All-CCAC First Team Honors for the second consecutive season. Wroble became the first player in team history to hit .500 or better in a season (min. 100 at-bats), posting a .516 average (80-for-155) and became just the third player for the Cougars to come away with 80 or more hits in a season.
