Davis Takes First; SXU Ties for Second at GSU Fall Tune-Up

University Park, Ill. – Junior Maddie Davis (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) was the lone golfer in the tournament to shot a round under 80, turning in a card of 79 (+7), three strokes better than the runners-up, for the Saint Xavier University women's golf team at the Governors State University (Ill.) Fall Tune-Up Thursday afternoon at University Park Golf Course in University Park, Ill. Davis made consecutive birdies to start the day on the Par-Five first hole and the Par-Four second hole. She also drained a birdie putt on the Par-Three seventh hole. As a team, SXU shot a total score of 376 to tie for second place along with College of DuPage (Ill.). Joliet Junior College (Ill.) won the team crown with a score of 354.
  • Sophomore Brooke Visser (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) shot a round of 89 (+17) for a sixth-place finish. She made a birdie on the Par-Four 10th hole while scrambling for par on eight other holes.
  • Junior Isabella Tor (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) was 13th overall after finishing the day with a score of 99 (27+). She sank a birdie on the Par-Four fifth hole.
  • Freshman Ava Nowacki (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence) placed 16th with a score of 109 after completing the 18-hole loop.
Saint Xavier returns to action this weekend when they participate in the two-day Monmouth College (Ill.) Fall Invite that begins on Saturday, September 13. The tournament takes place at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth, Ill.
