No. 6 SXU Men’s Bowling Starts 2026 at Midwest Collegiate Classic

Addison, Ill. – The No. 6 ranked Saint Xavier University men's bowling team opened the 2026 portion of its schedule with a 22nd place finish at the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic this weekend at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill. The Cougars collected 4,796 pins after five individual games on Saturday, placing 36th out of 68 teams. With 16 Baker Games on Sunday, SXU added 3,215 pins to their total of 8,011. Senior Spencer Mosher (Ormond Beach, Fla./Concordia/Seabreeze) had the best varsity score for Saint Xavier after he tied for 51st overall with 1,055 pins in five games. Representing the JV squad, freshman Dylan Alvarado (Lynwood, Ill./Thornwood) posted the best top score by any Cougar, varsity or JV, with his 18th place tally of 1,119 pins. No. 9 Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) recorded the highest score with 8,962 pins, narrowly slipping past runner-up University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and their mark of 8,947 pins.
  • Mosher averaged a score of 211.0 with a high of 257 pins in game one. He also surpassed 200 or more pins in game two (213), game three (208) and game five (200).
  • Also competing on Saturday, sophomore Joseph Blonski (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) finished in a three-way tie for 79th with 1,030 pins for an average 206.0 pins per game. He struck a high of 232 in game one, along with 227 pins in game two and 215 in game five.
  • Senior Daniel Esguerra (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was 92nd overall with a total of 1,011 pins across five games. He bowled an average score 202.2 with a high of 267 pins in game one. Esguerra hit 207 pins in game four and 215 in game five.
  • Junior Tyler Pedersen (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) collected 871 pins in five games, coming away with an average score of 174.2. He hit a high of 195 pins in game five.
  • Freshman Caleb Laurinas (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) made his varsity debut, bowling in games four and five, knocking down 192 and 159 pins, respectively.
  • Freshman Aiden Kidd (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) also competed on the varsity roster for the first time. He struck 177 pins in game two and 148 pins in game three.
  • Junior Andrew Rossini (Streamwood, Ill./South Elgin) rolled a score of 153 pins in game one.
  • On Sunday, SXU featured seven bowlers rotating out of their lineup. Blonski, Esguerra and Mosher saw action in all 16 games. Laurinas bowled in 15 of the 16 games, while Kidd, Pedersen and Rossini made appearances. Saint Xavier averaged a score of 200.9 pins in the Baker Games, hitting a high of 258 in game five. They also eclipsed 200 or more pins in game seven (243), game eight (229), game nine (202), game 12 (203), game 14 (238) and game 15 (246).
