Daniels Named NAIA Setter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) earned NAIA Men's Volleyball National Setter of the Week for the No. 2 ranked Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (3-2/0-0 CCAC) when the awards were announced by the awards were announced by the national office Tuesday morning. Daniels is the third Cougar in program history to earn the honor, joining former NAIA All-American Aaron Kummer (2017-21), who won the award three times in 2021, and current assistant coach and former teammate Christian Oviedo (2024). It is the 12th time overall in team history that a player has won either NAIA Attacker, Setter or Defender of the Week. Daniels is the first player since to pick up national honors since teammate senior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) won NAIA Defender of the Week on April 1, 2025.
  • Daniels claimed his second consecutive Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Volleyball Setter of the Week earlier in the day for his efforts in helping the SXU come away with a pair of NAIA Top 10 victories last week as they bested No. 3 St. Thomas University (Fla.) in four sets Thursday evening in their home opener at the Shannon Center. SXU swept No. 7 Lawrence Tech University (Mich.) Saturday evening.
  • Daniels tallied 65 assists for an average of 9.57 per set in seven sets, along with five blocks (one solo), four kills and a pair of aces. He handed out 33 assists with two blocks (one solo), two kill and a service ace against STU. Daniels capped the week with 34 assists, three blocks, two blocks and an ace vs. LTU.
  • In five matches to start the 2026 season, he has totaled 162 assists with an average of 9.53 assists per set in 17 sets. Daniels also has 27 digs, eight blocks (three solos), six kills and six service aces.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (3-2/0-0 CCAC) welcome No. 11 Grand View University (Iowa) to the Shannon Center on Friday, February 6. The NAIA Top 15 match-up is set for a 7:00 pm first-serve.
