Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHICAGO – Junior infielder/pitcher Noah Dreier (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) hit an RBI double in game one, and he went 2-for-3 with a home run while earning the win on the mound in game two to help lead Saint Xavier University baseball (14-8/5-3 CCAC) in a doubleheader sweep of Indiana University South Bend to conclude a four-game series sweep in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play Saturday afternoon at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. Sophomore designated hitter Parker Violett (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) aided in the 8-4 victory in game one, going 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. Senior pitcher Thomas Plizga (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Fremd) collected the win to improve to 2-1 on the mound this season. Junior outfielder Max Waszkiewicz (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South) led the Cougars with five RBI, including a three-run home run, and senior pitcher Gannon Burns (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) earned the save in an 11-9 triumph.

Game One:

• Dreier went 1-for-3 overall with a run and a walk.
• Junior infielder/pitcher John Simecek (Twinsburg, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.
• Senior outfielder Shea Zbrozek (Bloomington, Ill./Danville Area/Normal Community) had two hits from the leadoff spot in four trips to the plate with two RBI.
• Freshman infielder Trevor Corbett (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) finished 2-for-2 with an RBI double.
• Plizga worked 6.0 innings, allowing just three hits, two earned runs, three walks and striking out six batters.
• Burns threw 2.0 innings of relief, giving up three hits, an earned run, a walk and posting a strikeout.
• Simecek pitched the top of the 9^th, surrendering a hit, an earned run, walk and recording a strikeout to end the game.
• Senior infielder Beau Polickey (Oak Lawn, Ill./Heartland/Brother Rice) drew a bases loaded walk to open the scoring in the bottom of the 2^nd.
• Violett pulled an RBI single through the left side of the infield, Dreier tucked an RBI double down the left field line and Corbett hammered an RBI double to push the advantage to 4-0 in the bottom of the 3^rd.
• Zbrozek made it 5-0 after he sliced an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the 4^th.
• The Titans scored a pair of runs in the top of the 7^th on a pair of RBI fielder's choices.
• SXU responded with two runs in the home half of the inning as Simecek hit an RBI single and Violett smashed an RBI double to the gap in left center.
• IUSB homered in the top of the 8^th to make it a 7-3 ballgame.
• Zbrozek added his second RBI of the afternoon with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame.
• Indiana South Bend drove in a run on an RBI groundout before Simecek recorded the final out on a strikeout.

Game Two:

• Dreier was 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring three runs with two RBI, a triple, a walk and a stolen base. He moved to 1-1 on the bump after tossing 4.0 innings with two hits, one earned run, two walks and two strikeouts.
• Junior outfielder Ben Meier (Beechwood, Ky./Lincoln Trail/Beechwood), celebrating his birthday, went 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs, a double and a walk.
• Waszkiewicz had two hits in four trips to the plate with a steal.
• Senior pitcher Nick Krueger (Clifton, Ill./Danville Area/Clifton Central) logged 2.0 innings out of the bullpen, surrendering two hits, three earned runs, a walk and registering two strikeouts.
• Senior pitcher Jarrett Kenyon (Henderson, Nev./Utah State Eastern/South Suburban/Coronado) made his season debut, lasting 0.1 innings with four hits, five earned runs and two walks.
• Burns collected his first collegiate save after allowing a hit and recording a strikeout in 0.2 innings of relief.
• Simecek gave Saint Xavier an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1^st, picking up an RBI on a fielder's choice.
• Waszkiewicz belted his second three-run home run in as many days to extend the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the 2^nd.
• In the bottom of the 3^rd, Dreier helped his own cause by slugging a two-run homer over the wall in left center. Waszkiewicz added an RBI single back up the middle for a 7-0 lead.
• The Titans hit a home run in the top of the 4^th.
• Meier slammed a two-run single to put the Cougars on top 9-1 in the bottom half of the inning.
• IUSB cut into the deficit with a three-run home run in the top of the 6^th.
• Corbett clubbed an RBI double and Waszkiewicz brought in a run on a fielder's choice to make it 11-4 after six innings of play.
• Indiana South Bend rallied for five runs in the top of the 7^th on an RBI single, a sac fly, and an RBI double. Burns came into pitch and surrendered a two-run double on his first offering. He got out of the jam with a strikeout and rolling a ground ball to short stop to secure the series sweep.

Saint Xavier (14-8/5-3 CCAC) travels to Elgin, Ill. for a CCAC doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24. The games were originally scheduled for March 17, but where postponed due to wintery conditions. Game one of the doubleheader is set for 11:00 am.
