SXU Football Visits Children’s Hospital before Spring Scrimmage

CHICAGO – Head coach Mike Feminis and members of the Saint Xavier University football team visited patients at the Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill. on Tuesday, April 14. The team divided up into three groups to spend time and hand out gifts with patients on multiple floors, lasting nearly two hours. The trip came in advance of the annual Spring Scrimmage held at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field on Friday, April 24.

"I want to sincerely thank the staff at Christ—they are absolutely incredible human beings who I have the utmost respect for" said coach Feminis. "I also want to thank our alum Nick Mayerik, his wife Theresa and sister Kari Thirsk for organizing our visit and all they do for the Eddie Mayerik Foundation in honor of their precious son Eddie who passed away a few years ago. It was an honor for our players to visit with these children and hopefully put a smile on some of their faces, even if it was only for a brief moment."

Feminis had this to say about the scrimmage, "We had quite a few guys banged up for the majority of spring ball, so we'll be smart and minimize the number of plays we run tomorrow. But overall, it's been a very productive spring season and we're also excited to welcome the majority of our incoming recruits and their families to watch us and enjoy some food and camaraderie afterward."
