Fort Wayne, Ind. – Less than a week after setting a new school record in the Javelin, freshman
Jamie Sierocki (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) broke her own record with a throw of 35.85m on her third attempt and placed second in the event for the Saint Xavier University women's track & field team at the Warrior Open hosted by Indiana Institute of Technology Friday in Fort Wayne, Ind. Her throw was just under two meters better than her previous meet. No team scores were recorded.
- Running in the 100m, freshman Naomi Cargo (Chicago, Ill./Curie) finished in sixth place with a time of 12.99 seconds. Sophomore Jamaya Jenkins (Chicago, Ill./South Shore International) was close behind in eighth place crossing the lone at 13.07 seconds. The next three finishers for the Cougars all made their collegiate debuts in the event: freshman Tajana Sims (Ford Heights, Ill./Bloom Trail) clocked in at 13.28 seconds, freshman Paris Brown (Lynwood, Ill./T.F. South) checked in at 13.45 seconds and freshman Nayilea Bejarano (Posen, Ill./Eisenhower) crossed at 14.07 seconds.
- Senior Delilah Delgado (East Chicago, Ind./Calumet St. Joseph/East Chicago Central) posted her second-best time at SXU in the 400m with a time of 1:02.62 and finished 10th overall. Senior Ailyn Gallardo (Alsip, Ill./Governors State/Saint Xavier/Eisenhower) recorded her third-fastest time in her career in the event, clocking in at 1:03.94. Senior Anita Alassani (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West), competing in the 400 for the first time in two seasons crossed the line with her second-best career time at 1:09.68.
- Senior Nayely Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Maria) set a new personal record (PR) in the 800m, running nearly four seconds faster than her previous best, at 2:25.95 to place fifth. Junior Victoria Dolbniak (Lyons, Ill./Morton West) shattered her old PR by almost seven seconds, finishing in seventh place with a time of 2:31.46. Freshman Isabella Alatorre (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower), making her outdoor debut in the event, was 10th with a time of 2:33.66. Sophomore Kristin Booker (St. Louis, Mo./Cardinal Ritter) made her outdoor debut this season and registered her second-best career time in the 800m at 2:34.33. Senior Rachel Parsons (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), also making her outdoor debut this year, crossed at 2:40.14.
- Debuting in the 1500m, freshman Emma Karczewski (Chicago, Ill./Marist) clocked in at 5:21.50.
- Freshman Kenia Salgado (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) ran in the 400m Hurdles and recorded a mark of 1:22.17 to place ninth overall.
- The 4x400 Relay Team of Delgado, Gallardo, Martinez and Booker took second place with a time of 4:14.85. The 'B' squad of Dolbniak, Karczewski, Alassani and Parsons placed fifth with a time of 4:34.31.
- Sims established a new PR in the Long Jump and recorded the eighth-best jump in team history with a distance of 5.28m to finish in fourth place. Brown also PR'd with her jump of 4.75m, as did Bejarano with a new outdoor-best of 4.32m.
- Junior Madison Simpson (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) logged the fourth-best throw in program history in the Shot Put with a mark of 11.20m to place ninth. Junior Layla Alexander (Chicago, Ill./Phoenix Military Academy) set a new PR and had the fifth-best toss ever for SXU with a distance of 11.18m and was 10th overall and Sierocki also PR'd with her throw of 10.75m.
- Sophomore Precious Agugua (Frisco, Texas/Hertiage) posted the second-best attempt in team history in the Discus at 37.89m and finished in sixth place after setting the record last week. Junior Jersey Panock (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) had a season-best throw of 32.13m, while Sierocki had a toss of 32.01m.
- Agugua registered her second-best throw, and the second-best ever for Saint Xavier, in the Hammer with a distance of 45.70m on her fourth attempt. Simpson recorded the sixth-best throw in program history at 41.54m and finished ninth. Alexander had her second-best career throw with a mark of 37.15m.
- Also competing in the Javelin, freshman Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) became just the third Cougar to surpass 30.00m with the fifth-best throw ever at SXU at 30.55m to finish seventh overall. Panock had a throw of 19.78m.
Saint Xavier returns to action on Saturday, April 22 at the Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Invitational in Bourbonnais, Ill.
