Joliet, Ill. – For the second week in a row sophomore
Amia Harrison (Chicago, Ill./Simeon Career Academy) hit the NAIA 'B' Standard in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.53m to finish fifth overall and qualifies for the NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the Saint Xavier University women's track & field team at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite this weekend in Joliet, Ill. It was Harrison's second-best jump after hitting 11.60 a week ago and is the fifth-best jump in program history. It's the second year in a row that she has qualified for the national championships in the Triple Jump and joins former standout Alex Lambros (2016-19) in making multiple appearances at nationals in the event.
- Freshman Tajana Sims (Ford Heights, Ill./Bloom Trail) placed fifth in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.48m to place fifth. It was the second-best jump of her career and tied for fourth-best all-time for the Cougars.
- Junior Madison Simpson (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) finished in 10th place in the Shot Put with her throw of 11.15m. The throw moves Simpson into the Top 10 at SXU and she now holds eight of the 10 best tosses in team history, including the top three best marks.
- Sophomore Precious Agugua (Frisco, Texas/Heritage) recorded a throw of 41.75m in the Discus, the second-best toss in her career and the second-best ever for Saint Xavier and finished in fifth place.
- Agugua took 10th in the Hammer with the second-best throw in program history at 46.16m. She set the record earlier this season with a throw of 47.13m on March 31. Junior Layla Alexander (Chicago, Ill./Phoenix Military Academy) registered a toss of 39.18m, her third-best throw of the season.
- Freshman Jamie Sierocki (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) competed in the Javelin and was ninth overall with the second-best distance in school history in the event at 34.43m.
Harrison will represent Saint Xavier at the NAIA Women's Track & Field National Championships that begin on Wednesday, May 24 in Marion, Ind. Harrison competes in the Triple Jump that is slated to start on Thursday, May 25 at 4:30 pm central.
