SXU Places Second at CCAC Outdoor Championships

Joliet, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University women's track & field team set the program record for points with 174.5 and tied its best ever finish, taking home second place at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Outdoor Championships this weekend in Joliet, Ill. The team smashed the previous best of 130 points set also at the CCAC Championships back on April 17, 2010, where they also finished in second place. The Cougars tied for second place last season when they totaled 114 points. Sophomore Amia Harrison (Chicago, Ill./Simeon Career Academy) won the Triple Jump with her mark of 11.60m, the third-best all-time at Saint Xavier and a new personal record (PR). Harrison hit the NAIA 'B' Standard and joins former NAIA All-American Alex Lambros (2016-19) as they only Cougar athletes to win the Triple Jump at the CCAC Championships after Lambros set the program record at 11.82m on May 3, 2019. Harrison also set the school record in the 100m Hurdles and earned All-CCAC recognition with her second-place time of 15.29 seconds.

Sophomore Ambyer Maree Derrick (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) tied her program record in the High Jump and took home first place honors with her jump of 1.59m. Sophomore Precious Agugua (Frisco, Texas/Heritage) had the best throw in the Hammer with a distance of 44.16m, the third-best in team history, to earn All-CCAC and claime 10 points.

The 4x800 Relay Team of senior Nayely Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Maria), junior Victoria Dolbniak (Lyons, Ill./Morton West), freshman Isabella Alatorre (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) and senior Delilah Delgado (East Chicago, Ind./Calumet St. Joseph/East Chicago Central) ran the fastest time to earn All-CCAC, crossing at 9:45.85 and collecting 10 points.

Junior Lana Musa (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) added three All-CCAC awards to her collection, finishing in second place in the High Jump with a mark of 1.54m, placing third in the 400m Hurdles at a time of 1:09.07 and being a member of the third-place squad of 4x400 Relay Team, along with Delgado, senior Ailyn Gallardo (Alsip, Ill./Governors State/Saint Xavier/Eisenhower) and sophomore Kristin Booker (St. Louis, Mo./Cardinal Ritter), that recorded the fifth-fastest time in team history with a time of 4:08.59.

Senior Daniella Nino (Chicago, Ill./Calumet St. Joseph/De La Salle) placed second in the 10,000m and was All-CCAC with a time of 44:06.73. Freshman Alanna Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Homeschool) claimed All-CCAC honors after her second-place finish in the 5000 Race Walk posting a time of 30:36.38 and setting a new PR. Freshman Tajana Sims (Ford Heights, Ill./Bloom Trail) registered the third-best jump in team history in the Long Jump with her second-place distance of 5.51 and earned All-CCAC.

Freshman Jamie Sierocki (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) became the first SXU thrower to earn All-CCAC in the Javelin, recording the third-best toss in program history at 32.41 and placing second overall. Freshman Kenia Salgado (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) shattered her previous PR in the 3000 Steeplechase by over 25 seconds and took home All-CCAC honors with her third-place time of 13:47.82.
  • Sophomore Jamaya Jenkins (Chicago, Ill./South Shore International) earned two points in the 100m with a time of 12.60 seconds and finished in seventh place in the finals. She just edged out her teammate, freshman Naomi Cargo (Chicago, Ill./Curie), in the preliminaries at 12.70 seconds to Cargo's 12.72 seconds. For Cargo, it was a new PR.
  • In the prelims of the 200m, Cargo clocked in at 27.44 seconds, while Jenkins crossed at 28.15 seconds.
  • Booker tallied a point after her eighth-place time of 1:03.54 in the 400m.
  • Delgado earned five points in the 800m and placed fourth with a time of 2:23.56. Martinez scored two points with her time of 2:26.83 and finishing seventh overall, the second-fastest time in her career. Senior Rachel Parsons (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) recorded a time of 2:40.17.
  • Running in the 1500m, Delgado registered her second-best time of her career at 5:03.60 to claim three points and finishing in sixth place.
  • Nino finished in ninth place in the 5000m with a time of 21:21.84. Freshman Emma Karczewski (Chicago, Ill./Marist) recorded her second-best career time at 21:42.22 to place 10th and Alatorre crossed at 22:22.70.
  • Musa just missed the medal stand in the 100m Hurdles, finishing in fourth place and setting a new PR at 15.86 seconds.
  • Competing in the 400m Hurdles, Dolbniak ran her quickest time of the year at 1:14.01 and placed fifth, while Salgado was sixth with a time of 1:20.02.
  • The 4x100 Relay Team of Sims, Cargo, Jenkins and Harrison posted the fourth-best time in program history at 50.00 second and placed fourth.
  • Senior Anita Alassani (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) set a new PR in the High Jump with a height of 1.44m and tied for fifth place and earned 3.5 points.
  • Freshman Paris Brown (Lynwood, Ill./T.F. South) finished in ninth place in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.61m and freshman Nayilea Bejarano (Posen, Ill./Eisenhower) established a new PR with a mark of 4.57m to place 10th overall.
  • Sims just missed the medal stand in the Triple Jump with her second-best career distance of 10.69m in fourth place. Brown made her outdoor debut and was seventh with a distance of 10.07m
  • Junior Madison Simpson (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) broke her own school record in the Shot Put with a toss of 11.69m and finished in fifth place, earning four points. Freshman Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) PR'd with her sixth-place throw of 11.30m. Junior Alexander (Chicago, Ill./Phoenix Military Academy) recorded her second-best career throw at 11.13m and placed 7th and Sierocki set a PR with her eighth-place toss of 11.12m.
  • Agugua finished in fifth place in the Discus with a throw of 42.31m and broke her program record set earlier this season. Sierocki posted the sixth-best throw in team history and set a PR at 36.53 to place seventh. Junior Jersey Panock (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) with eighth overall with her toss of 35.67m. Simpson set a new PR with her mark of 31.09m, as did DeHaan with her toss of 30.97m.
  • Simpson recorded the sixth-best toss in team history in the Hammer and her second-best, with a distance of 42.72m to place fifth. Alexander had her second-best career throw at 39.64m and was eighth overall. Panock checked in in 10th place with a distance of 37.58m, while Sierocki PR'd with her toss of 37.15m.
  • DeHaan placed fifth in the Javelin and earned four points with a throw of 29.77m, Panock set a new PR with a throw of 25.68m to place seventh overall and Agugua recorded a toss of 20.79m
