CHICAGO – For the second time this season, senior
Isaac Sytsma (Highland, Ind./Indiana Tech/Calumet St. Joseph/Highland) from the Saint Xavier University men's cross country team has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week when the awards were announced by the league office Wednesday morning. Sytsma broke his own program record in the 8K and was the top individual at the Seminole Stampede hosted by Mount Mercy University (Iowa) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, October 5.
- He cleared his previous school record by almost 20 seconds with a time of 24:37.6. Sytsma also won CCAC Runner of the Week on September 11
- Sytsma set the record last season, 24:57.28, enroute to claiming first-place honors at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships on November 4, 2023 in Valparaiso, Ind.
- He is the first SXU runner to win CCAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week multiple times in the same season since former NAIA All-American Abel Hernandez (2015-18) did so in consecutive weeks on September 11 and September 17, 2017.
