Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Saint Xavier University dance team finished 10
th out of 10 teams at the NAIA Northeast Regional hosted by Aquinas College (Mich.) Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, Mich. and they ended their 2024 season. The Cougars competed against nine other teams: St. Ambrose University (Iowa) & University of St. Francis (Ill.) joined SXU from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), Marian University (Ind.) from the Crossroads League (CL), Point Park University (Pa.) from the River States Conference (RSC), Aquinas, Concordia University-Ann Arbor (Mich.), Lourdes University (Ohio), Madonna University (Mich.) and Siena Heights University (Mich.) from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC).
- Saint Xavier featured a lineup of, senior Mia Cox (Summit, Ill./Argo Community), Senior Madeline Kozy (Munster, Ind./Munster), freshman Janae Blackshire (Chicago, Ill./Trinity), freshman Emily Hovanes (Manteno, Ill./Manteno Community), freshman Emerson Grace Murphy (Palos Heights, Ill./Marist) and freshman Kayeann Ventura (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East).
- In the preliminaries, Saint Xavier posted a team score 62.63 and was in 10th to set the order of when they would perform in the First Round.
- The Cougars recorded a score of 60.27 in the First Round as the first team to compete.
- In the finals, SXU posted a score of 60.86. Defending national champion St. Ambrose earned an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championship Tournament with a total score of 96.27.
