Lendale Franklin (Chicago, Ill./Roosevelt/Argo Community) won the 60m Hurdles for the sixth time in his career, recording the fifth-best time in team history at 8.22 seconds for the Saint Xavier University men's track & field team at the Bumble Rumble hosted by St. Ambrose University (Iowa) in Davenport, Iowa Saturday afternoon. Foster also finished in fourth place in the Long Jump, posting the 10
th best jump in team history with a mark of 6.67m, while Franklin placed fifth in the 60m Dash, tying is own school record, at 6.90 seconds. No team scores were recorded and Saint Xavier carried a limited roster, competing in select events.
- In the preliminaries of the 60m Dash, Franklin recorded a time of 6.91 seconds, the third-best time ever for the Cougars. Sophomore Nazheer Moore (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) clocked in at 7.22 seconds, his fourth-best career time. Sophomore Charles Campbell (Chicago, Ill./Quincy/Reavis) registered his third-best time of the season, crossing at 7.24 seconds. Junior Ryan McFadden (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) also competed in the race and he finished with a time of 7.38 seconds.
- Junior Sean Harris (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) broke his own school record in the 200m with his second-place time of 21.88 seconds. He now holds the five fastest times for SXU in the race, all set in the last calendar year. Junior Charlie Zufan (Orland Hill, Ill./Andrew) placed ninth overall with the second-best time of his career at 22.48 seconds. Redshirt sophomore Karam Jaber (Palos Heights, Ill./Shepard) established a new personal record (PR) when he crossed the line in 22.88 seconds. Moore clocked in at 23.27 seconds for his second-fastest career time.
- Competing in the 400m, Jaber PR'd with the ninth-best time in team history with a 10th place time of 51.13 seconds. Campbell, making his debut in the event for the Cougars, wasn't too far behind at 51.85 seconds.
- Senior Jonathan Jacobo (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) posted his first sub-two-minute time in the 800m as he finished in fifth place with a time of 1:58.42.
- Senior Luke Snedden (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) placed fourth in the 1000m with a new PR of 2:43.01, three seconds quicker than he previous best.
- Jacobo topped his old PR in the Mile, running nearly three seconds faster than his old mark as he finished fourth with a time of 4:20.34.
- Snedden placed third in the 3000m with his second-best career time at 8:58.31.
- Also racing in the 60m Hurdles, Harris placed third in the finals at 8.49 seconds. In the prelims, Franklin qualified with the top time at 8.24 second, while Harris was third at 8.45 seconds.
- Senior Ameen Abdus-Sabur (Chicago, Ill./Carver Military Academy) set a new PR in the Long Jump after he placed seventh with a distance of 6.23m.
- In the Shot Put, junior Donovan Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King) established a new PR after his 13.91m throw earned him seventh place. Sophomore Thomas Imburgia (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) placed eight with a toss of 13.71m. Junior Riley Lundgren (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) finished with a throw of 13.45m, just ahead of teammate senior Isaac Adams (Mackinaw, Ill./Dee-Mack), who set a new PR at 13.42m.
- Jackson posted the second-best throw of his career, as well as the second-best in SXU history, in the Weight Throw with a mark of 16.01m to finish eighth overall, while Adams recorded a toss of 13.77m,
Saint Xavier prepares for the Aurora University (Ill.) Grand Prix that takes place on Saturday, January 25 at Gately Stadium and University of Chicago (Ill.).
