The 4x800 Team Hits ‘B’ Standard for SXU at Cramer Invite

Bourbonnais, Ill. – The 4x800 Relay team of senior Kristin Booker (St. Louis, Ill./Cardinal Ritter), junior Yanira Deana Paninka (Canary Island, Spain/Central Methodist/IES Jandia), senior Lexi Clarke (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet JC/Plainfield South) and senior Olivia Mathis (Akron, Ohio/Lourdes/St Vincent-St. Mary) claimed first place while also hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard with their school-record time of 9:27.45 for the Saint Xavier University women's track and field team at the Walter Cramer Invitational hosted by Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Friday afternoon in Bourbonnais, Ill. The group helped the Cougars win the event for the fifth time in team history. No team scores were recorded during the meet.
  • Sophomore Amaya Rique (St. Louis, Mo./Mineral Area/Seckman) qualified for the finals of the 60m Dash with her second-best time of the season in the preliminaries at 8.28 seconds, however she did not compete in the finals. Also running in the prelims, senior Jamaya Jenkins (Chicago, Ill./South Shore International) recorded a time of 8.34 seconds, while sophomore Rashiya Warfield (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) ran her second-best career time at 8.44 seconds.
  • Competing in the 200m, Warfield posted a new personal record (PR) at 27.88 seconds. Freshman Olivia Jarrett (Lynwood, Ill./T.F. South) made her debut in the race, crossing the finish line in 28.91 seconds.
  • Booker ran her fastest time of the 2024-25 season in the 400m with her seventh-place time of 1:03.41.
  • Rique placed ninth in the 800m after recording her second-best time of the season at 2:37.55. Junior Emma Karczewski (Chicago, Ill./Marist) posted her second-best career time at 2:44.06. Sophomore Alexia Guzman (Chicago, Ill./Solorio Academy) made her season debut in the event, crossing at 2:48.48.
  • Junior Isabella Alatorre (Blue Island, Eisenhower) took nearly four seconds off her old PR, clocking in at 6:01.58 in the Mile. Freshman Ava Mayer (Chicago, Ill./Marist) made her collegiate debut in the race, recording a time of 6:28.78.
  • In the 60m Hurdles, Warfield qualified for the finals with new PR of 9.31 seconds in the prelims. She finished third in the finals at 9.57 seconds. Jarrett PR'd in the preliminaries as well with a time of 10.19 seconds. In the finals, she finished eighth overall with a time of 10.44 seconds.
  • Freshman Eva Wintersteen (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) made her collegiate debut while competing in the High Jump. She finished in sixth place with a heigh of 1.40m.
  • Freshman Sophia Thomas (Highland, Ill./Highland) came away with her second-best distance of the season in the Long Jump after she placed eighth with a mark of 4.58m. Junior Nayilea Bejarano (Posen, Ill./Eisenhower) recorded her second-best mark of the year at 4.35m.
  • Senior Lana Krohe (Streator, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Streator) placed second in the Shot Put, posting her second-best throw in 2024-25 at 12.13m. Junior Jamie Sierocki (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) was third overall with toss of 12.03m. Freshman Mariah James (Alsip, Ill./Shepard) logged a new PR for the second consecutive meet, placing fifth with a throw of 11.30m. Sophomore Amariah Scott (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Township) finished in sixth place with her second-best career toss of 10.94m Junior Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) was eighth overall, recording her best toss of the season at 10.83m.
  • In the Weight Throw, James became just the fifth SXU thrower to eclipse the 13.00m mark as she finished in second place with a PR distance of 13.61m. Krohe is the sixth Cougar to also top 13.00, logging a season-best throw of 13.19m to take fourth place. Scott tallied her second-best career toss at 12.38m to place fifth. Sierocki finished in sixth place with a distance of 12.23m, while DeHaan topped the 11.00m mark for the first time, setting a new PR while finishing seventh overall at 11.19m.
Saint Xavier prepares for the two-day Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Indoor Championships that begin in Friday, February 7 in Davenport, Iowa.
