Davenport, Iowa – Competing at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, senior
Lexi Clarke (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet JC/Plainfield South) broke her own school record with her first-place time of 2:13.64 in the 800m, hitting the NAIA 'A' Standard in the event, to earn All-CCAC for the Saint Xavier University women's track and field team at Wellness and Recreation Center in Davenport, Iowa. Clarke claimed All-CCAC as a member of the 4x400 Relay Team that took second place with the second-fastest mark in program history at 3:59.01. She also established a new personal record (PR) in the 1000m, hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard, and just missing All-CCAC, with a fourth-place time of 2:58.16. As a team, the Cougars finished third out of eight teams with 102 points behind runner-up Viterbo University (Wis.), and their score of 166, and CCAC Champion Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.), who tallied 279 points.
Joining Clarke as an individual champion, senior
Lana Krohe (Streator, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Streator) became the first SXU thrower to win the Weight Throw at the CCAC Championships with her toss of 13.61m. It was a new PR for Krohe, topping her previous best of 12.93m last season at the CCAC Championships while competing for Olivet Nazarene. She is just the third thrower in team history to win the event at any meet. Krohe also picked up All-CCAC recognition with her second-place finish in the Shot Put, setting a Saint Xavier record with a distance of 12.73m.
The 4x400 Relay Team also featured junior
Emerson Colins (New Lenox, Ill./St. Francis/Lincoln-Way West), junior
Yanira Deana Paninka (Canary Island, Spain/Central Methodist/IES Jandia), and senior
Olivia Mathis (Akron, Ohio/Lourdes/St Vincent-St. Mary). Deana Paninka also earned All-CCAC honors with her second-best time as a Cougar in the 600m, taking second with a mark of 1:37.7.
Mathis was All-CCAC in two other events as she hit the NAIA 'B' Standard in the 800m with a third-place time of 2:16.17, and she set the school record in the 1000m while hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard placing third at 2:57.36. Colins finished in third place in the finals of the 60m Dash with a time of 7.92 seconds to earn All-CCAC. She qualified in the preliminaries with a mark of 7.85 seconds. Junior
Jamie Sierocki (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) claimed All-CCAC recognition in the Shot Put as well, finishing third with a PR distance of 12.37m.
- Also racing in the 60m Dash prelims, junior Naomi Cargo (Chicago, Ill./Curie) just missed qualifying for the finals with a ninth-place time of 8.05 seconds. Sophomore Amaya Rique (St. Louis, Mo./Mineral Area/Seckman) ran her second-quickest time of the season at 8.25 seconds, just ahead of senior Jamaya Jenkins (Chicago, Ill./South Shore International) and her time of 8.26 seconds.
- Rique finished seventh in the finals of the 200m at 26.86 seconds. She qualified with the second-fastest time in school history at 26.56 seconds. Cargo also reached the finals after a new PR time of 26.57 seconds, the third-best all-time for the Cougars. In the finals, Cargo placed eighth with a time of 27.17 seconds. Jenkins posted a time of 27.68 seconds in the preliminaries as well.
- Senior Kristin Booker (St. Louis, Ill./Cardinal Ritter) ran her second-best career time in the 600m with a fourth-place mark of 1:42.39. Rique was sixth overall with her second-fastest time of the season at 1:46.27.
- Deana Paninka made her season debut in the 1000m, placing 10th with a time of 3:05.87.
- Sophomore Rashiya Warfield (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) posted her second-best career time in the finals of the 60m Hurdles, finishing sixth at 9.48 seconds. She qualified with a mark of 9.53 seconds. Colins reached the finals as well, clocking in at 9.53 seconds to place eighth. In the prelims, Colins logged a time of 9.63 seconds.
- Competing in the High Jump for the first time in 2024-25, Deana Paninka placed seventh with a jump of 1.45m.
- Freshman Sophia Thomas (Highland, Ill./Highland) recorded her second-best jump of the season in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.69m.
- Freshman Mariah James (Alsip, Ill./Shepard) bested her old PR in the Shot Put, finishing in seventh-place with a throw of 11.33m. Sophomore Amariah Scott (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Township) also finished in the Top 10 with her ninth-place toss of 10.82m.
- In the Weight Throw, Sierocki was fourth overall with a distance of 12.66m, followed by a sixth-place throw from James at 11.91m and a seventh-place effort from Scott at 11.46m.
Saint Xavier gears up for the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Big Meet Invite. The two-day meet starts on Friday, February 14 in Allendale, Mich.
