CHICAGO – Freshman
Talon Hawk (Morro Bay, Calif./Morro Bay) from the Saint Xavier University men's golf team was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Golfer of the Week when the awards were announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. Hawk finished fourth after a tiebreaker, shooting a career low score of 70 (-1) for the Cougars last Thursday afternoon at Wedgwood Golf Course in Joliet, Ill. He joins his teammate, freshman
Lincoln Chizmark (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West), who also won the award earlier this season on March 26. It's just the second time in program history that SXU had two different golfers win the award in the same season. Former standouts Kyle Bahnick (2012-15) and Kirby Brown (2013-14) were the first duo to do so when Bahnick won on March 17, 2014, and Brown won on April 7, 2014.
- Hawk achieved a rare golfing milestone when he made a 'Hole-in-One' on the Par Three eighth hole, at a distance of 185 yards. He also drained three birdies during the tournament, first on the Par Five second hole, next on the Par Four ninth hole and finally on the Par Four 16th hole. Hawk made par on 10 other holes throughout the day to finish one shot under par.
Saint Xavier takes Intertate-80 West to LaSalle, Ill. to participate in the two-day Eagle Spring Invite hosted by Illinois Valley Community College at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Course. The tournament begins on Thursday, April 17.
