LaSalle, Ill. – Sophomore
Ayden Dyson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) was the top finisher for the Saint Xavier University men's golf team, tying for 27
th place with a two-day score of 155 (+11) at the Illinois Valley Community College Spring Invite at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Course in LaSalle, Ill. Dyson shot a round of 80 (+8) on Thursday. He sank a birdie putt on the Par Four first hole and made par on nine other holes. Dyson improved his score on Friday, lowering it to 75 (+3) after making three birdies on the afternoon on the Par Four ninth hole, the Par Five 11
th hole and the Par Three 17
th hole. As a team, the Cougars finished 10
th out of 15 teams with a combined score of 623 (+57). Illinois Central College won the team title with a total score of 596 (+20), as well has having two players tie for the individual crown with both players shooting a two-day mark of 145 (-1).
- Freshman Lincoln Chizmark (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) tied for 36th overall with a 36-hole score of 158 (+14). He drained three birdies on day one on the first hole, the 11th hole and the Par Four 14th hole for a round of 77 (+5). Chizmark finished day two with a score of 81 (+9) after sinking a birdie on the 11th hole again, and making par on eight other holes.
- Sophomore Dan Stood (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) finished in a four-way tie for 50th with a combined score of 160 (+16). On Thursday, he turned in a card of 81 (+9). Stood lowered his score by two strokes of Friday with a round of 79 (+7).
- Freshman Talon Hawk (Morro Bay, Calif./Morro Bay) tied his teammate with a two-day tally of 160 (+16). Hawk made two birdies on the first day, book ending the front-nine with birdies on the first and ninth holes, shooting a 79 (+7). He finished the second day with a birdie on the 11th hole for a score of 81 (+9)
- Sophomore Joey Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) tied for 67th overall with a total score of 166 (+22). He shot a round of 85 (+13) to start the tournament of Thursday. Glennon shaved four strokes of his score the end the tournament, making birdie putts on the Par Five second hole and the Par Four 16th hole for a mark of 81 (+9).
- Freshman Patrick Glavin (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) golfed as an individual for SXU, equaling his teammate with a two-day score of 166 (+22). He posted a round of 88 (+16) on day one, however Glavin improved his score by 10 shots on day two. He made a pair of birdies on the Par Three fourth hole and the Par Four seventh hole for a round of 78 (+6).
Saint Xavier prepares for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Golf Championships that begin on Monday, April 28. The two-day tournament will be held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
