Marion, Ind. – Senior
Ayobami Arokoyo (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) capped his collegiate career by making program history for the Saint Xavier University men's track & field team when he recorded the best throw in the Discus at 54.37m to become national champion at the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on day two in Marion, Ind. He is the first individual athlete for the men's team to win a national championship, and just the second in program history, joining 2025 SXU Hall of Fame inductee Ellie Willging (2014-17) who won the 10,000m in 2017 in Gulf Shores, Ala. and the 5000m earlier that season at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Johnson City, Tenn.
It was the eighth time in 2025 that Arokoyo won the Discus in Outdoor competition and the 20
th time overall since his first win in 2022. He is now a three-time NAIA All-American in the discipline, placing sixth in 2022 and fourth in 2023, the most for any SXU men's track & field athlete. The distance of 54.37m was the seventh-best of Arokoyo's career and he now holds the top 26 throws all-time at Saint Xavier. It was the 23
rd time that he has surpassed the 50.00m mark. With the 10 points scored by Arokoyo, the Cougars finished in a tie for 26
th place with five other schools out of 69 scoring teams. University of British Columbia won the national championship for the third time after finishing with 74 points.
