Channahon, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University women's cross country team started the 2025 season Friday evening at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Saints Twilight Invite at Channahon Community Park in Channahon, Ill. The Cougars finished fifth out of 10 teams with 131 points as Governors State University (Ill.) posted the lowest point total at 30 points to win the meet. A trio of freshmen paced SXU on the evening with
Briana Krapf (Portage, Ind./Portage) placing 12
th overall in the 5K race with a time of 19:56.53 in her collegiate debut.
Chloe Miller (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) was next to cross the finish line with a time of 20:09.53 for a 16
th place draw, followed by
Ava Scheeringa (Hebron, Ind./Hebron) with her 18
th place time of 20:37.92.
- Junior Alexia Guzman (Chicago, Ill./Solorio Academy) set a new personal record (PR), crossing at 23:24.92, nearly one and a half minutes faster than her previous best.
- Senior Emma Karczewski (Chicago, Ill./Marist) was the next scoring runner for the Cougars with her time of 23:59.59.
- Sophomore Ava Mayer (Chicago, Ill./Marist) set a new PR as well in a 5K event, racing over a minute and twenty seconds quicker with a time of 25:27.35.
- Freshman Jiselle Aldrete (Chicago, Ill./Marist) rounded out the field for SXU, clocking in at 26:49.70 in her first collegiate competition.
Saint Xavier travels to Marion, Ind. to take part in the Indiana Wesleyan University Twilight Invite. The race is scheduled for a 5:00 pm central start.
