Sean Harris (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) broke the school record in the preliminaries of the 60m Hurdles, qualifying for the finals, with a time of 8.08 seconds, besting the previous mark by 1/100
th of a second, 8.09 seconds, set by his former teammate
Lendale Franklin (2021-25) on December 1, 2023, for the Saint Xavier University men's track & field team at the Big Meet Invite hosted by Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Friday afternoon on day one of the two-day meet in Allendale, Mich. Harris tied for the 14
th quickest time in the NAIA this season and he hit the NAIA 'B' Standard as well. In the finals he finished with a time of 8.23 seconds to place eighth. The Cougars brought a limited roster to the meet and no team scores were recorded.
Friday:
- Junior Charles Bockenkamp (Park Hills, Mo./Mineral Area/Central) posted his fastest time of the season in the 600m at 1:27.57. Junior Nazheer Moore (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) set a new personal record (PR), running over three seconds better than his old standard at 1:31.72. Freshman Logan Perak (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) joined his teammates, also running his fastest time of the year at 1:33.68.
- Senior Riley Lundgren (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) logged a throw of 13.27m in the Shot Put.
- Junior Connor Whalen (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) came away with his third-best career throw, and the fourth-best in program history, in the Weight Throw at 16.40m.
Saturday
- In the 60m Dash, Harris recorded his second-best career time, and the seventh-fastest time school history, placing sixth at 6.93 seconds. Junior Jamaurien Thomas (Chicago, Ill./Ogden International) registered his fourth-best time of the season at 7.10 seconds. Perek beat his time set at the previous meet by 2/100th of second for a season-best mark of 7.24 seconds. Moore checked in with his second-quickest time of the year at 7.35 seconds.
- Moore crossed the line at 23.10 seconds in the 200m, his second-fastest career Indoor time.
- Bockenkamp finished with his third-best time of the season in the 400m at 53.35 seconds.
- Senior Rohindeep Bhattal (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) competed in the Mile, establishing a new PR by 4/100th of a second at 4:26.16.
- Sophomore Joey Lagattolla (Romeoville, Ill./Plainfield East) logged his second-fastest career time in the 3000m, crossing the line at 9:30.23.
- Freshman Nickoles Lathem (Griffith, Ind./Calumet New Tech) eclipsed the 14.00m for the first time in his collegiate career after coming away with a throw of 14.25m in the Shot Put. Lundgren posted a distance of 13.13m.
- Whalen duplicated his throw from the day before, recording a toss of 16.40m, this time finishing 10th overall.
Saint Xavier competes in the two-day Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships beginning on Friday, February 20 hosted by Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in Bourbonnais, Ill.
