Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Saint Xavier University dance team recorded the highest score in team history twice, placing fourth out of seven teams, with a score of 87.00 Saturday afternoon at the Saints Showdown hosted by Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich. The mark was the overall score for the Cougars after they competed in three routines: Jazz, Pom and Hip Hop. SXU had a team score of 84.91 earlier in the day in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Regular Season No. 3 meet, also finishing in fourth out of seven teams. The host Saints won the WHAC meet with an overall score of 89.87 and the Saints Showdown with score ot 89.79.
- Saint Xavier competed with the group of senior Perla Leon (Chicago, Ill./Richards), junior Emily Hovanes (Manteno, Ill./Manteno Community), junior Kayeann Ventura (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), sophomore Peyton Dobush (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West), freshman Emmonie Lindsey (Crest Hill, Ill./Plainfield Central), freshman Aldo Pozos (Posen, Ill./Bremen) and freshman Cheyenne Rhoades (Oak Lawn, Ill./Homeschool).
- In the WHAC Regular Season No. 3 meet Siena Heights University (Mich.) posted a second-place score of 88.50, Marian University (Ind.) placed third with a score of 84.91, Saint Xavier was next, Madonna University (Mich.) was fifth overall with a mark of 83.62, followed by Lourdes University (Ohio) at 80.16 and Indiana Tech University with a score of 78.95.
- The Saints Showdown SHU placed second with a mark of 88.91, Marian was third at 87.95, followed by the Cougars, Madonna had a score of 84.45, Lourdes placed sixth with a score of 81.00 and IIT tallied a score of 79.29.
