Columbia, Mo. – The Saint Xavier University dance team competed at the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championships, placing sixth out of six teams with a total score of 75.60 after the preliminaries and finals Saturday afternoon at the Arena of Southwell Complex on the campus of Columbia College in Columbia, Mo. In the prelims, the Cougars posted a score of 67.67 in the morning, however they improved in the finals with a mark of 78.25 later in the day. St. Ambrose University (Iowa) won the conference crown with a total score of 93.51.
- SXU competed with the group of senior Perla Leon (Chicago, Ill./Richards), junior Emily Hovanes (Manteno, Ill./Manteno Community), junior Kayeann Ventura (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), sophomore Peyton Dobush (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West), freshman Emmonie Lindsey (Crest Hill, Ill./Plainfield Central), freshman Aldo Pozos (Posen, Ill./Bremen) and freshman Cheyenne Rhoades (Oak Lawn, Ill./Homeschool).
- St. Ambrose had the highest score in the preliminaries at 92.42. Viterbo University (Wis.) was second at 90.42, followed by Oklahoma City University (Okla.) at 87.42, University of St. Francis (Ill.) at 87.00, Columbia at 81.42 and SXU.
- The Fighting Bees recorded the highest mark in the finals at 93.88 with Viterbo in second at 91.21. Oklahoma City was just ahead of St. Francis, 86.46 to 86.00, while the host Cougars tallied a score of 79.08.
- Finishing behind SAU were the V-Hawks with a total score of 91.14, OCU at 86.70, USF at 86.25, Columbia at 79.67 and Saint Xavier at 75.60.
