Raleigh, N.C. – The Saint Xavier University men's track & field team kicked off Outdoor competition, sending a small contingent to the North Carolina State University Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility in Raleigh, N.C. Junior Connor Whalen (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) established a new program record, breaking his old record, in the Hammer toss with a distance of 56.80m to hit the NAIA 'B' Standard, and recording the third-best throw so far in the NAIA. He placed 19^th out of 52 competitors and was the only NAIA thrower against competition from NCAA Division I and Division II programs. No team scores were recorded.

• Senior Sean Harris (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) had a strong showing as well, coming away with the third-fastest time in team history, and his third-best career time, at 21.25 seconds. He finished 15^th out of 104 runners.
• SXU ran in the 4x100 Relay with the group of junior Jayquan Hampton (Chicago, Ill./Ogden International), Harris, junior Nazheer Moore (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) and junior Jamaurien Thomas (Chicago, Ill./Ogden International). They posted a time of 43.22 seconds to place 23^rd overall.

Saint Xavier makes the trip to Bourbonnais, Ill. to take part in the Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Tiger Open on Thursday, April 2.
