CHICAGO – Junior pitcher Cole Martz (Huntington, Ind./Kankakee/Huntington North) claimed Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season for the Saint Xavier University baseball team (28-14/19-9) when the awards were announced Tuesday morning. In game two, a seven-inning contest of a doubleheader at Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Friday, Martz carried a no-hitter into the bottom of the 7^th, but he surrendered a base hit with two outs. Overall, he finished the game with 10 strikeouts and one walk in a 3-0 complete game victory. Martz also was named CCAC Pitcher of the Week on March 24.

• Martz recorded at least one strikeout in every inning, and he had a no-hitter going with two outs in the bottom of the 7^th. After two groundouts to start the frame, Martz walked a batter and he posted a strikeout, however a passed ball allowed run runner to reach base. The next batter broke up the no-hit bid with a base hit. With the go-ahead run at the plate, Martz produced a ground ball out to seal the win.
• He logged his third complete game of the season, his second double-digit strikeout effort, and his first shutout. Martz leads the team with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.19 in a team-high 53.2 innings of work. He also has team-bests in starts (11) and strikeouts (65). Martz in 3-4 on the mound and has limited opponents to a .202 batting average.
• In conference rankings, Martz in tied for No. 1 in starts, No. 2 in ERA and strikeouts per nine innings at 10.90 and No. 3 in strikeouts.

Saint Xavier (28-14/19-9 CCAC) hosts Indiana University Kokomo in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 21 at Ferrell Field. Game one is scheduled for a 1:00 pm first pitch.
