CHICAGO – For the second week in a row, senior
Sean Harris (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) and junior
Connor Whalen (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) won Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, respectively, for the Saint Xavier University men's track & field team when the awards were announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. Harris, winning his second Track Athlete of the Week in the Outdoor season along with three Indoor wins, broke a pair of program records in the 110m Hurdles and the 100m Dash. Whalen posted his fifth-best career throw, and third-best this season, in the Hammer Championship event to claim his third CCAC Field Athlete of the Week in four weeks.
- Competing at the 56th annual Hillsdale 'Gina' Relays hosted by Hillsdale College (Mich.) this past weekend in Hillsdale, Mich., Harris established the new program record in the finals of the 110m Hurdles with a third-place time of 14.21 seconds. He qualified in the preliminaries with a time of 14.41, at the time a new personal record (PR). His mark in the finals hit the NAIA 'B' Standard in the discipline. Harris also broke the school record in the prelims of the 100m Dash, crossing the line in 10.48 seconds. In the finals, he finished in second place with a time of 10.49 seconds.
- The meet held separate Hammer events, Open and Championship. Whalen was the lone NAIA thrower in the Hammer Championship, placing seventh with his distance of 53.43m among throwers from NCAA Division I and II schools.
Saint Xavier sends a limited roster to the Don Kleinow Memorial Invite hosted by Siena Heights University (Mich.) on Friday, April 24 in Adrian, Mich. and the full roster to the Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Outdoor Open on Saturday, April 25 in Bourbonnais, Ill.
