Michael Furlong (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) finished in a tie for sixth place with a round of 76 (+3) for the Saint Xavier University men's golf team at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Wedgewood Golf Course in Joliet, Ill. Overall, the Cougars placed fifth out of the six teams competing with a total score of 323 (+39), 25 shot behind the winner and host St. Francis.
- Sophomore Clayton Bumsted (Palos Heights, Ill./Stagg) completed the loop with a score of 79 (+8) and was 16th overall.
- Sophomore Brendan Patton (Beverly, Ill./Holy Cross/Malcom X/St. Rita) tied for 20th with a round of 81 (+10).
- Senior Marty Bennett (Evergreen Park, Ill./Moraine Valley/Brother Rice) turned in a card of 83 (+12) and tied for 29th place.
- Senior Matt Fitzpatrick (Evergreen Park, Ill./Moraine Valley/Brother Rice) was a couple of shot behind at 85 (+14) in a tie for 31st along with senior John O'Grady, who shot a season-low of 85 by one stroke.
- Junior Miguel Madrigal (Evergreen Park, Ill./Moraine Valley/Evergreen Park) finished the day with a score of 102 (+31).
Saint Xavier prepares for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Golf Championships that begin on Monday, April 24 at Cinder Ridge Golf Course in Wilmington, Ill.
