CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University football team will host its annual intersquad scrimmage on Saturday, April 29 starting at 11:00 am at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. The Cougars also have announced their upcoming schedule for the 2023 season. Some notable games include a rematch of last season's NAIA FCS First Round playoff matchup with Marian University (Ind.) on September 9 in Indianapolis, Ind., their first home game is against Indiana Wesleyan University on September 16 under the lights with a 7:00 pm kickoff, they will celebrate Homecoming vs. Judson University (Ill.) on October 7 and host NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.) the following week on October 14.
 
Head coach Mike Feminis had this to say about the scrimmage: "The weather has been a little challenging at times as it always is this time of the year, but we got a ton of work in and accomplished what we wanted to this spring. I'm really impressed with the development of some of our younger guys and several of them will be ready to contribute in the fall as well as the transfers that came in January. I'm expecting that at least a few of them will be making an immediate impact for us."
 
As for the schedule, Feminis said, "Well, there are landmines all over the place. I can't imagine anyone at our level has a tougher three game stretch to start the season than us and the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) from top to bottom is still the toughest NAIA conference in the country. It was extremely unfortunate to see what happened to Trinity International University (Ill.) but filling that open date with a home game against a quality NCAA Division II program like Saginaw Valley State will be another tremendous challenge for our program."
