Rock Island, Ill. – Freshman
Ayden Dyson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) performed well in his first collegiate tournament, as did junior
Brendan Patton (Beverly, Ill./Holy Cross/Malcolm X/St. Rita) for the Saint Xavier University men's golf team at the Highland Championship at Highland Golf Course hosted by Augustana University (Ill.) this weekend in Rock Island, Ill. Dyson shot a two-day total of 153 to tie for 19
th place out of 95 golfers. He shot a round of 80 Friday afternoon and bounced back with a strong day two card of 73. Patton finished one shot back of his teammate, totaling a two-day score of 154 and tied for 25
th overall. He posted a round of 76 on day one and shot a 78 on Saturday. As a team, the Cougars finished 14
th out of 16 teams with a total score of 643. Millikin University took home the team title with a 36-hole score of 577 (292-285).
- Junior Clayton Bumsted (Palos Heights, Ill./Stagg) recorded a two-round score of 168 as he shot 84's both Friday and Saturday, respectively.
- Freshman Joey Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) made his collegiate debut and shot a round of 89 on day one. He improved by eight strokes on Saturday for a card of 81 and a two-day total of 170.
- Freshman Dan Stood (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) also made his collegiate debut and finished two shots behind his teammate with a total score of 172. After the first 18-hole loop had posted an 87 and concluded the tournament with an 85 on Saturday.
Saint Xavier takes part in the Judson Fall Invite at Randall Oaks Golf Course on Friday, September 8. Tee time is set for a 10:30 am start.
