Ayden Dyson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) tied for 15
th place with a two-day score of 157 (+13) for the Saint Xavier University men's golf team at the Illinois Central College Cougar Spring Preview at Weaver Ridge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill. this weekend. As a team, the Cougars tied for 11
th out of a field of 17 teams with a total score of 665 (+89), shooting 339 on Saturday and they lowered their score with a team tally of 326 Sunday afternoon. Dyson shot a round of 83 on day one and he turned in a card with a nine-stroke improvement, and his second-lowest career round, of 74 on day two. Augustana College (Ill.) had the best team score at 600 (294, 306), 11 shots better than runner-up and host Illinois Central. The Vikings also had the top individual as Alexander Thery shot rounds of 71 and 73 to finish even for the tournament.
- Junior Brendan Patton (Beverly, Ill./Holy Cross/Malcolm X/St. Rita) tied for 30th with a total score of 161 (+17). He shot an 84 Saturday afternoon and would lower his score by seven strokes in Sunday with a round of 77.
- Freshman Dan Stood (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) tied of 54th after shooting a two-day score of 166 (+22). He finished the 18-hole loop on Saturday with a score of 80. On Sunday, Stood shot a round of 86.
- Freshman Joey Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) tied for 87th by shooting 181 (+37). He recorded a score of 92 in round one before taking three shots off for an 89 in round two.
- Senior Miguel Madrigal (Evergreen Park, Ill./Moraine Valley/Evergreen Park) rounded out the field for SXU, with a two-day total of 209 (+65). He shot a 106 on the first day and lowered his score by three strokes on the second day with a round of 103.
Saint Xavier competes in the two-day Flyer Spring Invite hosted by Lewis University (Ill.) that begins on Friday, April 5 in Wheaton, Ill at Cantigny Golf Club.
