Wesley Chapel, Fla. – The Saint Xavier University men's golf team returned to the links for the first time since October and competed at the three-day Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff hosted by Walsh University (Ohio) at the Saddlebrook Resort. Freshman
Dan Stood (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) paced the Cougars with a total score of 250 (+40) and he placed in a tie of 41
st. Stood shot an 84 Thursday afternoon and he shot an 87 on Friday before taking eight shots off his previous day with a round of 79 to finish the tournament. The Cougars had a team score of 950 (352-347-251) and were eighth out of eight teams. Winona State University (Minn.) won the tournament with a score of 878 (284, 292, 302) and Tyler Nickol from Kentucky Wesleyan University won the individual title with a score of +7 (69, 76, 72), just one stroke ahead of the runners-up.
- Freshman Ayden Dyson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) finished 43rd with a total score of 251 (+41). He shot a low round of 81 on day one, followed by a round of 84 on day two and he carded an 86 on day three.
- Junior Brendan Patton (Beverly, Ill./Holy Cross/Malcolm X/St. Rita) tied of 44th overall with a three-day tally of 255 (+45). He posted a mark of 86 in round one and was three shots better in round two at 83. Patton concluded the tournament with a round three score of 86.
- Freshman Joey Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered a total score of 291 (+81). He finished the first loop with a score of 101 on Thursday and shaved eight strokes off on Friday with a card of 93. Glennon finished the event with an 18-hole score of 97 on Saturday.
- Senior Miguel Madrigal (Evergreen Park, Ill./Moraine Valley/Evergreen Park) competed on day one, recording a score of 110, before having to withdraw from the tournament.
Saint Xavier returns to action when they take part in the two-day Cougar Spring Preview hosted by Illinois Central College at Weaver Ridge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill. The tournament being on Saturday, March 23.
