Lincoln Chizmark (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) tied for 28
th overall out of a field of 107 golfers with a two-day score of 156 (+12) for the Saint Xavier University men's golf team at the Illinois Central College Spring Preview this weekend at Weaver Ridge Golf Course in Peoria, Ill. Chizmark posted a round of 80 on Saturday, sinking a birdie on the Par-Four ninth hole. He lowered his score by four strokes on Sunday after making birdies on the Par-Four fifth hole, the ninth hole and the Par-Three 12
th hole.
As a team, SXU finished 13
th out of 18 teams, one team withdrew after Saturday, with a total score of 653 (+77). The Cougars shot a combined score of 329 in round one, however they improved by five shots in round two with a score of 324. ICC won its own tournament with a team score of 585 (+9), 23 shots better than the runners-up. Illinois Central also had the top individual performer, Peyton Woods, who was the only golfer to shoot under par in both rounds (68, 70) with a two-day tally of 138 (-6).
- Sophomore Ayden Dyson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) was tied for 38th with a two-round total of 158 (+14). He made a pair of birdies on day one, on the Par-Five third hole and the ninth hole for a score of 79. Dyson duplicated his score on day two, birding on the Par-Five first hole.
- Freshman Talon Hawk (Morro Bay, Calif./Morro Bay) tied for 69th overall with a score of 165 (+21). He shot a round of 82 on Saturday and made a birdie on the Par-Four 10th hole. On Sunday, Hawk turned in a card of 83, draining a birdie putt on the third hole.
- Freshman Patrick Glavin (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) recorded a two-round score of 173 (+29), tying for 94th. He finished the first day with a score of 84 and ended the tournament with an 18-hole score of 89.
- Sophomore Dan Stood (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) was one shot behind his teammate, coming away with a two-day score of 174 for 96th place. He carded a round of 88 on day one, sinking a pair of birdies on the Par-Four seventh hole and the Par-Three 17th hole, respectively. Stood shaved two strokes off his score on day two, making birdies on the first hole and again on the 17th.
- Sophomore Joey Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) competed as an individual in the tournament, posting a score of 177 (+33) to tie with four three other golfers for 98th overall. He shot a round of 91 in his first loop of the course, but would shoot five shots better on Sunday with a round of 86.
Saint Xavier hosts the Cal Sag Cup on Saturday, April 5 at Nettle Creek Golf Course in Morris, Ill.
