Morris, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University men's golf team defeated Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in match play to retain the Cal Sag Cup Saturday afternoon at the Nettle Creek Golf Course in Morris, Ill. The Cougars won back the cup from the Trolls last season after TCC won the inaugural match up in 2023.
- In the first match, sophomore Ayden Dyson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) lost to Richard Serpa, 6 Up.
- Sophomore Dan Stood (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) lost to Yanis Toinard, 2 and 1.
- Freshman Lincoln Chizmark (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) bested Joshua Smith, 4 Up.
- Freshman Talon Hawk (Morro Bay, Calif./Morro Bay) also won 4 UP, defeating Alejo Keticoglu.
- Sophomore Joey Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) slipped past Justice Gilliand, 1 Up.
- Freshman Patrick Glavin (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) was victorious in his match up with Ali Bizati, winning 2 and 1.
Saint Xavier travels to Joliet, Ill. to compete in the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Invite that takes place on Thursday, April 10 at Wedgewood Golf Course.
