Silvis, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University men's golf team finished 14
th out of 21 teams at the two-day NAIA National Preview hosted by St. Ambrose University (Iowa) with a total score of 633 (318, 315) at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore
Talon Hawk (Athens, Ohio/Morro Bay) placed in a four-way tie for 42
nd with a 36-round score of 156 (80, 76) to finish +14. He made a pair of birdies, on the Par-Five second hole and the Par-Three seventh hole on day one. Hawk lowered his score by four strokes on day two after making three birdies on the second hole, the Par-Five 10
th hole and the Par-Four 15
th hole. Marian University (Ind.) won the tournament with a team score of 594 (292, 302), four shots ahead of runner-up Hastings College (Neb.). Sam Dykema from Indiana Wesleyan University won the individual crown with a score of 137 (68, 69) to finish -5 par.
- Freshman Thor Hock (Palos Park, Ill./Brother Rice) tied with four other golfers to tie for 52nd with a two-day score of 158 (81, 77). He sank a birdie putt on the Par-Three 16th hole on Monday. On Tuesday, Hock improved his score by four shots as he made a birdie on the Par-Four eighth hole and another birdie on the 16th hole.
- Sophomore Lincoln Chizmark (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) tied his teammate, also shooting a total score of 158 (78, 80). He made a birdie on the 16th hole in round one. In round two, Chizmark drained a birdie on the Par-Three third hole.
- Junior Joey Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) was in a five-way tie for 73rd with a score of 165 (83, 82). He made par on nine holes in his first loop of the course. In his second loop, Glennon lowered his score by a stoke after a sank a birdie on the Par-Four 18th hole.
- Junior Dan Stood (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) tied for 84th with a two-day tally of 169 (79, 90). He made a pair of bridies on Monday, on the Par-Four 13th hole and again on the Par-Four 15th hole. Stood made a birdie on the Par-Four fifth hole on Tuesday.
Saint Xavier prepares for the two-day Flyer Intercollegiate hosted by Lewis University (Ill.) at Dubsdread at Cog Hill in Lemont, Ill. The tournament begins on Monday, October 6.
