Tysen Myers (Apple Valley, Minn./Jamestown/Eastview) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the No. 2 ranked Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (7-2/0-0 CCAC) when the awards were announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Myers was a force at the net, collecting 12 blocks (four solos) with an average of 1.71 blocks per set in seven sets as the Cougars won a pair of matches last week. He added 13 kills on a .524 attack percentage (13-2-21) and a pair of digs as SXU has won six matches in a row. - Myers came away with a season-best seven blocks (three solos), six kills and two digs in a four-set win over NCAA Division II Roosevelt University (Ill.) last Tuesday. His three solo blocks are tied for No. 5 in single-match history for the Cougars.
- In a three-set win over No. 15 Georgetown College (Ky.) on Friday, Myers had five blocks (one solo) and a perfect attack percentage on seven attempts.
- Through nine matches and 30 sets played, he leads SXU with 28 total blocks, leading the team in solos (six) and block assists (22). Myers has added 48 kills on a .387 attack percentage (48-12-93) and seven digs. He leads the CCAC in attack percentage, is No. 2 in solo blocks, No. 3 in blocks per set at 0.93, No. 4 in total blocks and No. 5 in block assists.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (7-2/0-0 CCAC) begins Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) competition when they host Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) Tuesday, February 17 at the Shannon Center. The match is set for a 7:00 start.
