Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) repeated as CCAC Setter of the Week, claiming his eighth award this year, and freshman middle blocker
Hayden Grange (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) came away with CCAC Attacker of the Week for the first Player of the Week win in his collegiate career. The trio helped the Cougars go 3-0 last week, and to win the CCAC regular season championship.
- Velez tallied 46 digs, including a single-match school record of 27 in a five-set triumph over Indiana Tech University in the second match of the SXU Tri-Match on Saturday, along with a .980 reception percentage on 50 attempts (49-for-50), five assists, four service aces and a kill. He had 10 digs, three assists, an ace and a kill in a three-set win against Judson University (Ill.) last Tuesday. Velez posted nine digs and a service ace to start the tri-match vs. Viterbo University (Wis.), a three-set victory.
- Daniels appeared in two matches, totaling 84 assists for an average of 10.50 assists per set in eight sets, while adding 11 digs, three blocks (one solo), two kills and an ace. He opened the week with 31 assists, four digs, two kills and a block against the Eagles. Daniels issued 53 assists with seven digs, two blocks (one solo) and a service ace to help defeat the Warriors.
- Grange led all SXU attackers with a .405 attack percentage (17-2-37), coming away with 17 kills, 11 aces, seven digs and six blocks (three solos). He recorded six kills on a .462 attack percentage (6-0-13) with four blocks, four service aces and three digs vs. Judson. In the tri-match, Grange logged seven kills on a .500 attack percentage (7-0-14), four aces, two digs and a solo block vs. Viterbo. He ended the day with four kills, three service aces, two digs and a solo block against IIT.
No. 3 Saint Xavier (25-3/13-0 CCAC) concludes the regular season with a CCAC match at Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Tuesday, April 7 in Whiting, Ind. First-serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
